Flavoured cream cheese spreads built on a whipped base. Whipping the cream cheese first — rather than just stirring in add-ins — makes it noticeably lighter and easier to spread straight from the fridge.
Base
- 225g (8oz) full-fat cream cheese, at room temperature
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream (to loosen, adjust to consistency)
- Pinch of salt
Whip the softened cream cheese with a fork or hand mixer until smooth and fluffy, 1–2 minutes. Add milk a little at a time to reach a spreadable consistency. Season with salt, then fold in flavorings below.
Herb & Garlic
- Base (above)
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill (or parsley), finely chopped
- 1 small garlic clove, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Black pepper to taste
Fold everything into the whipped base. Taste and adjust salt. Good on bagels, crackers, and as a spread for wraps.
Strawberry
- Base (above)
- 3 tablespoons strawberry jam (or 1/4 cup fresh strawberries, finely diced)
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Fold the jam and vanilla into the whipped base. If using fresh strawberries, pat them dry first — excess moisture thins the spread. Taste and add honey if the berries are tart. Works on bagels, toast, and as a fruit dip.
Storage
- Container: Airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Shelf life: Up to 1 week.
Notes
- Room-temperature cream cheese is non-negotiable for smooth whipping — cold cream cheese stays lumpy.
- The source video has 3 specific spreads; if the recipes above differ, update accordingly.
- Full-fat cream cheese whips better and holds flavor longer than reduced-fat.
